If you’ve ever met me or read this blog (not that anybody actually reads this blog) you’ll know that I am a hopeful homeless vagabond gypsy with no shoes or sense of direction.
I own a giant teddy bear and not much else.
And recently I broke a hip.
Talk about great life prospects!

But, despite my foreboding circumstances,
I’m back on my feet (literally)
And today I started exploring my new neighbourhood.
One crutch in my cabin.
Two feet on the floor.
(I can’t tell you how nice it is to just about have two functional legs again!)

I started with the galley and deck and chambers of my new home:
A 35-meter, 73-year-old Dutch hotel barge.
(I’m no longer homeless!)
It doubles as my job.
(You guessed it, I’m no longer unemployed!)

And then I set off into the city
Because, in a very sudden and unexpected turn of life events, I ended up in Amsterdam!
The sun shone.
And Summer is coming, so let’s hope it keeps shining!

I caught up with friends and sipped coffee and basked in goodness and got lost in the beauty.
The fascinations of the city lured me in every direction through the canaled streets as I dodged tourists and bicycles and tourists on bicycles.
What other people do for a holiday is what I do for life.

But despite the joy in having two legs again, a home, and a job,
the best part is that I have a beautiful team to live it with!

2019 may have had a shaky start,
But a new chapter has just commenced
And, once again, I’ve landed on my feet!
I hope you’ve found yours!
