\nThe names other people call us.
\nThe labels we give ourselves.<\/p>\n

Why is it that we avoid eye-contact with the mirror?
\nOr see a hideous stranger staring back at us?
\nWhy is it that we only notice our faults.
\nAnd allow other people\u2019s reactions to us to mirror our thoughts.<\/p>\n

We plaster on a smile and head out into the real world petrified that others will see through us.
\nTerrified that they will find the truth.
\nWe\u2019re frauds.
\nGreat pretenders.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re writers who can\u2019t write.
\nArtists that can\u2019t create.
\nTeachers who can\u2019t teach.
\nBusiness [wo]men on a lucky streak.
\nCreatives who glean ideas off others.
\n\u2026other people are better than ourselves!<\/p>\n

We pretend at work.
\n(\u201cOne day they\u2019ll find out I can\u2019t\u2026\u201d)
\nWe pretend at relationships.
\n(\u201cWhen they see the real me, they\u2019ll stop loving me\u2026\u201d)
\nBut the worst part is that we pretend at life.
\nWe even try and fool ourselves.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t believe we are worthy.
\nWe don\u2019t believe we are good enough!
\nWe don\u2019t realise how awesome we are!<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a little bit mad, eccentric, spontaneous, stubborn, and irrational.
\nNeurotic even.
\nAlong with another long list of terms that I have labelled and allowed others to label me.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m 35 years old and all I have is a giant Teddy Bear, broken backpack, and a lot of scars as assets.
\nMy bank account has a bit of an eating disorder.
\nI don\u2019t look the part of the \u201cadult\u201d I\u2019m auditioning for.<\/p>\n

I have climbed many ladders, but none of them in any corporate environment.
\nI don\u2019t have a lease, let alone a house!
\nAnd while I\u2019ve worked in more industries than most, my only full-time job is being a nomadic Gypsy.<\/p>\n

We wrongly attribute our successes to accidents and our failures to the core culpabilities that comprise our self.
\nWe live in a world full of warped mirrors and seldom see how exceptionally marvellous our complex beings truly are.

We\u2019re misfits!
\nAll of us!
\nBut that\u2019s the beauty of humanity.
\nAll of us are different. None of us is perfect.
\n(Even if others look the part on the outside.)<\/p>\n

But who really wants to be perfect?
\nWho really wants to have their life completely together?
\nWho really wants to fit nicely into a box for other people to admire?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the people that nobody would imagine anything of that do the things that nobody else would imagine!
\n(I think I heard that in a movie once)<\/p>\n

Your wrinkles make your smile shine.
\nYour love handles make cuddling that much more enjoyable.
\nYour weird outlook on life is a unique perspective!
\nYour grey hair and scars speak of the epics you\u2019ve endured and the lessons you\u2019ve learned along life\u2019s path!<\/p>\n

The truth is:
\nYou are amazing!
\nYou are worthy!
\nYou are good enough! More than enough!
\nYou are beautiful!
\nYou are exactly who you are meant to be!<\/p>\n

Love yourself!
\nBelieve in yourself!
\nSmile at your reflection!
\n(No matter how strange you may be!)<\/p>\n
